Ted Chien

Ted Chien is an Executive Vice President of Ingenix, where he leads the Consulting and Decision Support strategic business group, and CEO of the Reden & Anders consulting and analytical services practice. Previously, Chien held positions with Watson Wyatt Worldwide as global director for the Group and Health Care practice, as the managing consultant for the Minneapolis office, the Group and Health Care national leader for thought leadership and innovation, the Group and Health Care practice leader for the Midwest region, and the manager for the Minneapolis Administrative Systems practice.

Chien has more than 20 years of consulting experience in strategic planning within the HR, benefits, and health care fields. His areas of expertise include plan design, funding, administration, compliance, and communication of HR programs with an emphasis on employee benefits and health care.

Chien has prior experience as a consultant with Coopers & Lybrand and A. Foster Higgins (now Mercer). He is a graduate of Math & Computer Science at the University of Illinois , and holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas . His board affiliations have included the NCQA Employer Advisory Council, Minnesota Private College Council and the Presbyterian Homes and Services.

Fred Foulkes, DBA

Fred Foulkes, director of the Human Resources Policy Institute at Boston University 's School of Management , is one of the most highly respected HR professionals in the country. A distinguished professor and researcher, he also has experience as a human resources practitioner. He is a consultant to several large companies and leads and participates in many company executive development programs. Fred received an AB degree from Princeton University and MBA and DBA degrees from Harvard University . He was a member of the Harvard Business School faculty prior to joining the faculty of Boston University , where he teaches courses in human resources management, strategic management and labor and personnel relations. He is program director of NEHRA's Senior Executive Forum and a senior advisor to the board.

Mike Hager

Mike Hager is president of Hager Strategic , Inc., which he founded in 1995. Mike had his start in this industry in 1983, helping large employers with administration, systems and sourcing issues in the HR, benefit and payroll areas.

Prior to starting Hager Strategic , Mike worked as the Director of Sales and then as an Outsourcing Implementation Manager for Wyatt Preferred Choice (which has since become Wellspring Resources and now CitiStreet) where he served on the Board of Directors. Mike also worked for a number of years at William M. Mercer, Inc., where he participated on the task force that started Mercer’s outsourcing administration business.

Most recently, Mike has been helping clients develop and implement long-term strategies for HR, payroll and benefits administration, including in-depth analyses of current vs. future systems and administrative environments. Mike has also been concentrating on helping clients hone methods for managing external suppliers’ ongoing performance and costs, according to industry best practices. Mike's clients have included a large number of Fortune 500 companies.

Anne Szostak

Anne Szostak is a business and community leader with significant expertise in general management in the public and private sectors, human resources, and financial services.

Anne is President and CEO of Szostak Partners, a Providence, RI-based consulting firm that provides executive coaching and human resources consulting to CEOs and HR directors. Additionally, she serves as Lead Director of Tupperware Brands Corporation (TUP) and as a Director of Belo Corporation (BLC), ChoicePoint Corporation (CPS), and Spherion Corporation (SFN).

Before starting her own business, Anne built a successful, 31-year career at FleetBoston Financial. She served as Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Diversity, as a member of the Executive Committee, and as the Retirement Committee Chair. Previously, she was Chairman and CEO of Fleet Bank of Maine (1991-1994) and Rhode Island (2001-2003). Prior to its merger with Bank of America, FleetBoston was one of the country’s largest financial holding companies with assets approaching $200 billion, 20 million customers, and 50,000 employees. Under her leadership, Fleet earned recognition as an employer of choice from many organizations including Working Mother, the National Business and Disability Council, the Black MBA Association, Diversity Inc., Latina Style, and the Gay Financial Network. Anne has also been published in the Harvard Business Review, co-authoring an April 2004 article entitled “How Fleet Bank Fought Employee Flight.”

Robert Toohey

As senior vice president for human resources at Verizon Communications, Bob Toohey is responsible for developing and implementing global HR policies, strategies, programs, and tools that keep the workforce engaged, focused, energized and motivated to achieve the business unit's strategic objectives. These include employee development, training, staffing, compensation and benefits, employee relations, diversity, and Human Resources compliance.

From 2001 to 2006, Bob served as vice president of Total Rewards for Verizon Communications Inc., responsible for the establishment of corporate long-range objectives, policy and governance, and design, implementation, and financial stewardship of the Verizon Total Rewards Program, including base compensation, incentive plans, pension, and executive compensation and benefits. During that time, he also presented to the Human Resource Committee of the Board of Directors.

Bob began his career at GTE, where he served for 18 years in various roles in both finance and human resources compensation and benefits. As director of executive compensation, he served on the GTE/Bell Atlantic merger integration team. Prior to that position, he was vice president for compensation, benefits, and HR technology at Genuity, where he led the human resources team on the company's initial public offering.
