Accounting Manager
This position reports to the CFO and will work closely with Sales and Services.
Position Summary:
As a key member of a small accounting/finance department of an emerging, growing technology company, you must be a take-charge individual who can make an immediate impact. We are looking for a rising star who wants to grow into the Controller role. You will work closely with the CFO, Sales and Services in updating and maintaining order administration, internal controls, and accounting operations. You'll be a jack-of-all-trades and will learn and grow in this position. You will manage a small staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement improved sales order processing, purchasing and general account procedures, under the guidance of the CFO.
- Track and record sales transactions, order fulfillment activity, and deferred revenue. Work with operations to track and report key operation metrics.
- Ownership of accounting activity including general accounting, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, credit and collections, purchasing/AP and fixed assets.
- Complete monthly consolidation/financial reporting including consolidated financial statements for the company's operations and management reporting package.
- Assist CFO with financial analysis including budget-to-actual reporting.
- Manage payroll and employee benefits administration.
- Prepare sales tax returns, handle state tax registrations locations as the company grows, handle various regulatory filings, support income tax return preparation.
- Manage annual audits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required. CPA preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of relevant, hands-on experience is required.
- Experience with software revenue recognition including SOP 97-2 required. Experience in a services organization is a strong plus.
- Experience in an accounting manager capacity in an entrepreneurial growth environment at a high technology company is required. You will not be considered without this experience.
- Excellent MS Office skills and accounting systems skills are required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- You must be a take-charge individual and be comfortable making decisions and acting independently. You must have a solid knowledge of accounting operations and issues of an emerging technology company. This is a position for someone who gets excited about making improvements and who keeps a big picture view but who doesn't get bored with the details of day-to-day accounting operations.
