Verizon Business' SVP of HR Joins HighRoads' Board of Advisors

Toohey Brings Global HR Strategy Expertise to Guide Fast-Growing HR Information Management Solutions Provider

BOSTON (Nov. 27, 2007) - HighRoads, the new way of managing human resources (HR) programs and suppliers, today announced that Robert Toohey, Verizon Business’ senior vice president of HR, has joined its Board of Advisors. His strategic vision for managing global HR policies, programs and tools at Verizon Business will help ensure that HighRoads’ continued solution and services expansion delivers what large, complex organizations crave: actionable insight to control the cost and improve the performance of HR programs.

For the past twelve years, Toohey has been responsible for developing and implementing some of the most innovative global HR practices at Verizon, and previously, at GTE. He has consistently defined and built programs that motivate workforces and achieve the goals of each business unit. Prior to his current role, he established the long-term corporate objectives for Verizon’s Total Rewards Program, which balances compensation, incentives, pensions and benefits.

Toohey joins an experienced and influential group of HR executives on the HighRoads Board of Advisors, including experts from Ingenix and Boston University’s School of Management Human Resources Policy Institute. Together, these individuals represent the best of the HR industry’s mindshare; individually, they have each set new standards for HR transformation and best-practices.

"Bob has experienced and overcome the challenges that our customers face daily, quarterly and annually -- and knows what it takes to create strategic HR processes that support the needs of the business," said Paul Daoust, HighRoads' CEO and chairman. "His voice is a welcome addition to our board of advisors, and will help us continue to stay ahead of the needs of our fast growing customer base."

Toohey was a member of the American Benefits Council Board of Directors and served as chairman of the Retirement & Investment Policy Committee. He is also a trustee for the Morristown Memorial Health Foundation and was recently named to the Board of Atlantic Healthcare, a two hospital system in Northern New Jersey.

HighRoads’ HR Information Management solutions address key points of pain in the delivery of HR programs and benefits, as organizations seek new ways to combat rising health and welfare costs. Its solutions manage benefit plan procurement and renewals, supplier performance, summary plan descriptions, global benefits program data and more. By creating a single, electronic HR information system of record, HR teams transform manual administrative processes into opportunities to drive value to their organization.
